This has been quite a project!! I was so happy when Kev said he wanted to knock out the half wall and put in a rail. I don't think I realized what we were in for! Kev had the wall knocked down and the rail installed so fast. I think it took him half a day. Then we decided to stain it ourselves! Big mistake! We wanted it to match our cabinets in our kitchen so we found stain and started working on it. It wasn't too bad but we loaded the stain on! It turned out so dark and splotchy. It was so frustrating because we knew what it could look like and it wasn't looking good. We really didn't want to sand it but we did it anyway. NEVER again! It was the most time consuming, annoying, messy thing I've ever done! After 6 years of sanding we finished and tried staining it again and it worked! It looks great now and we're finally done! I'm so happy we have our lives back! We are horrible at taking before and after pictures. I wish you could have seen the wall that was there before.

Oh I love it! It is funny how much it opened up the room putting the rail in. I can't wait to see it in person...(hint hint invite me over j/k) Love the mirror and the color of the front door too!

Ugh! That does sound like a LOT of work. But the end result is quite amazing. Good job. I don't know if I'll ever have it in me to start something like that, so I really admire you guys to doing it.
